Phones and scheduling

We deal with your EMR, phone and IT companies on your behalf. Your clinic keeps its own accounts and contracts.
Patient privacy under HIPA
Under Saskatchewan’s Health Information Protection Act (HIPA), your clinic stays responsible for patient information, even when a provider stores it. No product is “HIPA approved” or certified. What matters is how a tool is set up and what the provider agrees to. Before anything goes live, we check:
- Where patient information is stored and processed, and whether it is used to train AI.
- That the provider meets Canadian health privacy laws (PIPEDA and provincial laws such as Saskatchewan’s HIPA) and signs a privacy agreement with your clinic.
- That each person and system sees only what it needs.
- That callers know they are speaking with an AI assistant and can reach a person.
We favour providers that store data in Canada and tell you plainly when one does not. Futago Solutions does not keep patient records.
Alongside the SMA EMR Program
The Saskatchewan Medical Association’s EMR Program helps physicians get more out of their EMR. We don’t replace that support. We cover the rest of the front desk: phones and scheduling, computers and Wi-Fi, coordinating your technology vendors, and privacy checks on new tools.
